Day 1--Travel and immersion!

Wow...what a day. I had to get up at 6 AM...not too early, not too late...for an 8 AM flight. Getting on the plane was kind of crazy and a I had a ton of luggage (see below)...

After I got on the plane, the excitement and nervousness really set in...I'm not really sure why...after all, I've been waiting for this day for a long time...While I was sitting on the plane at RDU, I snapped this pic of the ramp!

When I finally landed in New Mexico, I was met by a bunch of UWC second-years, who helped me with my luggage...it was all so well organized! I LOVE New Mexico...it's so beautiful, and wild...I think I could live here.

After a very sweaty 2.5 hour drive to campus...we finally arrived. The campus is STUNNING. The view as we came round the bend in the road was incredible! The campus is enormous, and it's dominated by the castle, a beautiful building that is even more impressive when you see it. As we pulled up to campus, we (on the bus) were overwhelmed by all the second-years who came to find us. My roommate, Moha (from Jordan), gave me the best welcome. He took me up to our dorm, called Mont Blanc. It's a great dorm, and I'm really impressed by the sense of community. Below are some photos of my dorm room.

My bed...complete with new sheets.

The view from my room is really pretty...
After this, I'm off to play soccer (or football) and then later there is a "culture shock" party in the student center. My life is already crazy, and I've only been here for 5 hours!!!!
